Spotlight on Gordie’s Coffee House

Did you know that every Thursday, Glenelm is home to one of Winnipeg’s most popular musical events, attracting fans from all corners of our city to hear talented acts perform in a wide variety of styles. Here’s the low down on Gordie’s from organizer Lexx Jefferson:

Gordie’s Coffee House is located inside Gordon-King Memorial United Church on Thursdays from 7-11 pm from September to June, with a little break for Christmas.

It is a 1960s style coffee house that showcases live local musicians and includes an open mic segment after the featured artists. Don’t be surprised to see Juno nominated artists show up in our little Glenelm coffee house!

We are part Art Gallery, part Lending Library, part Games Room and always warm & welcoming. We serve Fair Trade Coffee & Tea and beautiful homemade desserts. Doors open at 7:00pm and first set is at 8:00pm, so call up an old friend or come out and make a new friend.

Oh ya, you can check us out on Facebook, too!

Some upcoming shows…

October 19th: Lois Gillespie
October 26th: Hearts on Fire
November 2nd: Keiran Shae
November 9th: Manon Timschel
November 16th: Trillionaires
November 23rd: Jelly B & K-Mart Shoppers

Help Gordie’s Help Others

In lieu of admission, Gordie’s Coffee House has a long-standing tradition of collecting non-perishables for Winnipeg Harvest. But right now, in response to exceptionally high need from another organization that feeds the hungry, Gordie’s is running a special food drive to help West Broadway Community Ministry’s soup kitchen.

Gordie’s invites all Glenelm residents to help them help others by dropping off non-perishables during their coffee house on Thursday evenings from 7-11pm. Especially needed at present: canned meat/fish, oatmeal packets, canned baked beans, canned vegetable and fruit, soup and pasta sauce.
