Hello Glenelm neighbours! Welcome to summer in our beautiful little corner of the world.
A special welcome to all the new people who have moved into Glenelm over the past few months. We know that it’s a challenge getting to know your neighbours during a pandemic and we’re so happy that restrictions are slowly lifting so that we can start meeting all the new folks who’ve chosen to make this neighbourhood their home.
In “normal times”, the Glenelm Neighbourhood Association is very active in hosting many activities and events that keep our community connected. This has been really hard to do over the past year. The ever-changing COVID situation makes it difficult to plan, and it’s always our goal to respect not only public health orders, but also the spirit of the restrictions.
That’s meant we had to cancel many beloved traditions and events. Things like Meandering Music (our roving front-porch music night), Sweets and Seeds (our springtime plant swap and bake sale), the Winter Warmer (a mid-winter potluck in partnership with the Big Red Church) and many other special events. If nothing else we’ve learned that absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Rest assured: we will get back to all these things and more when it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, let’s celebrate the small steps towards normal that we are allowed to take now…in the June 2021 newsletter you’ll find details about two upcoming events!
If you are new to Glenelm, we’re looking forward to meeting you! And if you’re someone who has a new neighbour, why not introduce yourself and let them know about the GeNA newsletter?
Best wishes for a safe and healthy summer!
