Happier Henderson Update

Giant marbles & arches coming to Henderson!

Great things are coming to Henderson Hwy over the next few months! The ReimagineElmwood coalition (which GeNA is a member of) is very excited to be bringing some cool new features to our neighbourhood high street: giant marbles for the median between Johnson and Hespeler, as well as archway signage made from reclaimed elm wood sourced from Elmwood!

These art installations serve a dual purpose of representing the community and promoting traffic calming through street design. We’re not only going to beautify the neighborhood, but create a sense of identity and contribute to a safer and more pedestrian- and business-friendly environment!

The 6 giant marbles will be painted by the coalition members, and we invite you to join us in painting ours! See the details at “Marble Painting Event + Hotdog Party“.

What’s going on with the vacant lot at 243 Henderson?

We are also excited to share the news that change is coming, albeit very slowly, to the empty lot at the corner of Johnson and Henderson. Decades ago, this site was a gas station, and as a result it has a complex environmental situation that makes it a challenge to re-purpose. Thanks to the work of the ReimagineElmwood coalition, the site is slated to be properly paved this summer, which will unlock the potential to use the space in new ways.
