 Let’s spruce up our neighbourhood with a safe spring cleanup!

This year’s cleanup has been modified to comply with COVID restrictions but we’re still going to have a good time and make our neighbourhood look great.

On Saturday, April 24, simply come (on your own or with your household) to the Big Red Church between 1 and 3pm – we’ll give you supplies and take note of which streets or alleys you’ want to tackle, and we’ll explain what to do with your bags when they’re full.

Hope to see many new and familiar faces!

By popular request, we’ll be holding a home & personal security/safety information night on May 13th at 7:30pm via Zoom.

We held a well-received event on this topic a couple years ago and folks have been saying we should do one again. Our presenter is a long-time Glenelm resident who is known for her proactive home security practices! The presentation will be about an hour long, and include time for Q&A.

It’s so exciting: the Elmwood Business Coalition is growing stronger every day! This volunteer-run organization is working with community groups and local politicians to form a Business Improvement Zone.

Now is a great time to help our local businesses. We know how bad it gets when we have empty storefronts and poor performing local shops so the Elmwood Business Coalition wants you to know which businesses have said YES to working together for Elmwood.

When you do shop locally, let local businesses know that you care about their success and encourage them. If they’re not in the coalition yet, let them know that it matters to you.

Now that spring is here, we’ll all be watching closely for the trees to bud and start to turn green! With any luck, our almost complete banding coverage of boulevard trees will mean few/er cankerworms this year. Schmidt Tree Banding will be returning to the neighbourhood to remove and dispose of the bands in mid-May.
